At KSKin, our laser treatments offer an effective way to reduce unwanted hair and fade tattoos using precisely controlled laser energy. Whether you're tired of shaving and waxing or have a tattoo that no longer feels like you, we'll assess your skin, the area you would like treated and what you realistically want to achieve before recommending an appropriate treatment plan. Conveniently located in Barnt Green for clients across Worcestershire, Birmingham and the surrounding areas, KSkin offers advanced skin treatments tailored to your individual concerns.
Fade Or Remove Unwanted Tattoos Safely And Gradually
Tattoos may be designed to last a lifetime, but that doesn't necessarily mean you want to keep them forever. Laser Tattoo Removal uses highly targeted pulses of laser energy to break tattoo pigment into much smaller particles. Treatment at KSKin begins with an assessment of your tattoo, your skin and the results you would like to achieve.
How does Laser Tattoo Removal work?
Tattoo ink sits within the dermis, the deeper layer of the skin. This is what makes tattoos permanent - the pigment is too large and stable for the body to simply clear it away.
Laser Removal delivers very short pulses of energy which are absorbed by the tattoo pigment, fragmenting larger particles into smaller pieces. Over the following weeks, the body's immune system gradually processes and clears some of these fragmented particles. With successive treatments, the tattoo should progressively fade.
Because different pigments absorb different wavelengths of light, the colour of your tattoo is an important factor in determining how it will respond to treatment. Black and dark inks generally respond better; while certain colours are considerably more challenging than others. Permanent make-up requires particular caution because cosmetic pigments can contain compounds that react unpredictably to laser treatment, including darkening. We will assess your tattoo and give you a realistic idea of what treatment may be able to achieve.
Can you completely remove a tattoo?
The final result is influenced by factors including the colours and composition of the ink, how deeply it was placed, the amount of pigment present, if it was professionally or amateur applied, your skin type and your individual response to treatment. If your aim is a cover-up rather than complete removal, fewer treatments may be required to fade the existing tattoo sufficiently for your tattoo artist to work over it.
How many treatments will I need?
Laser Tattoo Removal requires a course of treatments rather than a single session.. These need to be appropriately spaced. Your body continues clearing fragmented pigment after you leave the clinic, so allowing the area sufficient time to heal and respond between sessions is important.
Does Laser Tattoo Removal hurt?
People often describe the sensation as similar to an elastic band snapping against the skin, although experiences vary according to the location and size of the tattoo and individual pain sensitivity. Treatments are generally relatively quick, particularly for smaller tattoos. Afterwards, the tattoo may temporarily appear white or frosted. Redness, warmth and mild swelling can also occur. Some people develop small blisters or crusting as the skin heals. These effects are generally temporary, but it is important to follow your aftercare instructions carefully and allow the skin to heal properly between treatments.
Are there risks?
Potential side effects include temporary redness, swelling, blistering or crusting, as well as temporary/occasionally longer-lasting changes in skin pigmentation. Scarring is possible, although uncommon when treatment and aftercare are appropriate. Some cosmetic, white, flesh-toned, red, yellow and brown pigments may darken or change colour following laser exposure.

The Long-Term Solution To Getting Rid of Unwanted Hair
If you're tired of the endless cycle of shaving, waxing and dealing with regrowth, Laser Hair Removal offers a longer-term approach to unwanted hair. We use controlled light energy to target pigment within the hair, damaging structures responsible for producing hair and reducing its ability to produce future growth. With a course of appropriately timed treatments, hair growth can become significantly reduced, with remaining hairs often becoming finer and less noticeable.
How does Laser Hair Removal work?
The laser emits a specific wavelength of light which is absorbed by melanin - the pigment that gives hair its colour. The aim is to damage the follicle while minimising damage to the surrounding skin. Darker, coarser hairs generally provide the strongest target. Removal is most effective when hairs are in the active anagen, or growing, phase. Repeating treatment at carefully timed intervals allows us to target different hairs as they enter their active growth phase.
Is Laser Hair Removal permanent?
A successful course can produce a significant and lasting reduction in the amount of hair growing within the treated area. Remaining hair may also become finer, softer or less noticeable. Some follicles can recover and occasional maintenance treatments may therefore be beneficial.

Who is Laser Hair Removal suitable for?
Suitability depends upon both your skin and your hair. Because laser treatment targets melanin, dark hair generally responds better than very light hair. Grey, white and very pale blonde hairs contain little or no melanin and therefore cannot usually be treated effectively with conventional laser hair removal. Red hair can also respond less predictably because its pigment composition differs from that of brown or black hair.
Skin tone is equally important because melanin is also present within the skin. The laser system and treatment settings must therefore be selected carefully for your individual skin type.
What does Laser Hair Removal feel like?
Most people tolerate the treatment well. You may feel brief sensations of heat or a light snapping feeling as each pulse is delivered. The sensation varies depending on the area being treated, the density of the hair and your individual sensitivity.
What should I do before treatment?
You will receive full preparation instructions before your appointment. In general, the hair should be shaved rather than waxed, plucked or epilated before laser treatment. The follicle needs to contain the pigmented hair target for the laser to work effectively, so removing hair from the root can make treatment ineffective. Recent tanning and significant sun exposure can also affect whether it is safe to treat the skin.
What happens after Laser Hair Removal?
Some redness and mild swelling around individual follicles is common immediately following treatment. The area may also feel warm or sensitive for a short time.
These reactions usually settle relatively quickly. Treated hairs don't necessarily disappear immediately. Some will remain visible before gradually shedding from the follicles over the following days and weeks.
